CALVIN MILLAR
Calvin began his martial arts training at an early age beginning with Goju Ryu Karate. Since that time he has had the opportunity to study a variety of arts both formally and informally including Tai Chi, Ju-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Shoot Wrestling, Kali, Boxing, B.F. Savate and Jun Fan/JKD.
He currently holds instructor rankings in B.F Savate and Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do under Professor / Sifu Salem Assli as well as a Boxing Coaching Certificate from the National Coaching Certification Program.
Aside from instructing martial arts, Calvin has been developing and delivering training programs for over 15 years. He is the Provincial Director for the American Women’s Self Defence Association, a Chartered Member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association and a Senior Member of the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety. He is also a member of the Modern Warrior® Alumni and a regular assistant instructor at the Modern Warrior® Defensive Tactics Institute on Long Island, New York (and abroad training courses). Calvin is a certified instructor in Women’s Self Defense, Defensive Tactics, Confined Area Safety / Security Tactics, Professional Handcuffing for Private Security, Tactical Jaw and Limb Control, Tactical Straight and Expandable Baton, Self Defense Keychain, Metal-Tec 1400 and has attended numerous workshops and seminars.
Calvin currently works as a security manager for a major healthcare facility in Kitchener Waterloo. He has experience as a security professional, private investigator and security consultant with over 10 years of experience. He is a Registered Practical Nurse with specialized training in psychiatric nursing.
